Day Trips

For full day trips, take in the famous town of Killarney, hike in beautiful Killarney National Park, or visit Muckross House, Park, Gardens and Traditional Farm; or explore the Dingle Peninsula including the town of Dingle itself and the wilds of the far side of the peninsula. The drive over Connor Pass to Dingle is not to be missed! On the Tralee Bay / Brandon Bay side of the peninsula you’ll find the dunes of Castlegregory (beach, surfing lessons, water park on the bay, golf, restaurants), Castlegregory Golf Links,. and some great restaurants including excellent pizza.
Sections of the famous Ring of Kerry are also within reach as a day trip; or for a full Ring of Kerry experience in a day there are coach tours available, starting and ending in Killarney. (Driving the whole Ring yourself in one day is NOT recommended - a minimum of two to three days is more appropriate).

This page is always a work in progress, so web links and more activities will be added as we go along. It is, however, by no means exhaustive, so check KerryGems and Google for more ideas. You will probably find loads of information by looking for relevant Facebook and Instagram pages as well. (If you don’t know how to do that, ask a teenager).

Each group of guests at Curlew Cottage will be supplied a copy of KerryGems Magazine, which is a goldmine of information. KerryGems also have a website which is full of great ideas. We recommend that you check with the venues you’re interested in regarding opening hours and reservations.
